Poll shows Campbell Newman will lose Ashgrove seat

MORE people plan on voting for Kate Jones over Campbell Newman in Ashgrove - but voters in the electorate still think the Premier will win.

A Seven News commissioned ReachTEL poll of 847 Ashgrove voters on January 13 and found 47.6 per cent planned on putting the former Labor MP and Minister first on the ballot on January 31.

Mr Newman claimed 43.7 per cent of first preferences, up 3 per cent since the last poll in December, while the vote for Ms Jones has stayed fairly stable.

Based on the 2012 preference distribution, that would give Labor a 53 per cent to 47 per cent lead over the LNP for the seat.

But when asked who they thought would win, regardless of their own voting intention, Mr Newman was the winner, 51.4 per cent to 48.6 per cent.
