TWEED has laid claim to the fastest laundromat in Australia, with its machines producing as much G-Force as a rollercoaster.

Quickie-mat in Tweed Heads boasts the USA made Dexter washing machines and dryers, capable of finishing a large load in roughly 40 minutes.

The only match for its mechanical mastery at washing clothes is a recently renovated laundromat in Kargoorlie, WA, which has the same high tech machines.

To top it off, co-owner Michelle Dart said their machines are environmentally friendly and use a minimal amount of water.

"It is popular with the locals, they like that it's very quick and they don't get ripped off," she said.

"The spin speed produces 2Gs of force at 2000rpm (revolutions per minute)."

But the technologically advanced machines do come at a steep price.

"You can buy a commercial grade machine at around four grand, these cost about double that," she said.

"The renovation cost about two hundred thousand."

But Mrs Dart said that the machines were exceptionally strong and would likely last a lot longer than a normal commercial washer or dryer.

The recent unrelenting rain means that the Quickie-mat is likely a popular destination for Tweed residents keen to dry their clothes at a phenomenal pace.
