Pottsville cane toads to go
CANE toads will be in the spotlight at a cane toad muster at Pottsville's Koala Beach tonight.
Tweed Shire Council invasive species officer Pamela Gray said cane toads competed with native frogs for food and habitat.
She said the theme of the muster was "the good, the bad and the ugly".
"Participants at the muster get to play the 'good' role helping to rid our neighbourhoods of this environmental scourge, the bad and the ugly cane toad," Ms Gray said.
Matt Greenlees from University of Sydney will give a short talk beforehand to discuss threats of the Cane Toad and will be available after the muster to answer questions.
The Koala Beach cane toad muster will be held from 7.45pm (NSW) to 8.45pm.
Those attending need a torch each, and will need to wear a long-sleeved shirt, long pants and covered shoes.
Children must be accompanied by an adult over age 18 to participate.
Participants are asked to meet at the gazebo next to the lake on Sugar Glider Drive.
The Koala Beach cane toad muster is an initiative of the Bush Futures Project and is supported by Tweed Shire Council and the NSW Environmental Trust.
