Debate over Pottsville shops
SUGGESTIONS of favours for developers, which led to the sacking of Tweed Shire Council in 2005 have resurfaced in a bitter debate about a major new shopping centre near Pottsville.
Greens Party Councillor Katie Milne was threatened with expulsion from the council meeting after calling on Mayor Warren Polglase to “clarify his relationship” with development company Metricon.
The request came during rowdy scenes reminiscent of council meetings before the last elected council was sacked by the NSW Government in 2005.
It earned a rebuke from Cr Polglase who told Cr Milne she had “overstepped the mark.”
