Pound after Christmas beds
THE homeless dogs at the Tweed pound sleep on wooden beds with rusty steel frames.
These beds are made of ply and chipboard and are veritable breeding grounds for disease but Tweed residents can help to change this.
Tweed Pounds new head pound keeper Loretta Nahrung said new technology has made it possible to have light and comfortable beds that are designed especially for pounds and kennels.
A spokeswoman from Friends of the Pound said the organisation would like to provide the pound with 20 beds for Christmas.
"We would like to raise $2000 to do this.
"It doesn't matter how big or small your donation it will go towards the beds for the dogs," the spokeswoman said.
"Any donations towards the beds can be dropped at our adoption booth at the Petcare Superstore in Machinery Dr, Tweed Heads South.
"All donations will be issued with a receipt; we are a registered charity so donations are tax deducible.
"Donations can also be direct debited to our account Friends of the Pound (Tweed Inc) ANZ BSB - 012-096 Account 180789204.
"Please pay with a notation that the money is for the pound beds.
"You can't take them all home, but you can make their lives more comfortable and happy until someone adopts them from our local pound."
