Power cables go down, leave 2500 powerless in Banora

RESIDENTS of Banora Point were forced to sit down to candlelit dinners on Friday evening and although the romantic set up normally would have enhanced the experience, the reason behind last Friday's event definitely didn't add any magic.

An Essential Energy spokesperson said a power outage started at 6.45pm and affected about 2,500 customers.

"We received a report that certain wires were down and we turned off the power to the area immediately.

"Maintenance crews also needed to repair a cross bar on a power pole located at Fraser Dr near Twin Towns Junior Club.

"Once that was done and crews established there were no power lines down, we restored power to the area at 7.30pm," the spokesperson said.
