Power Rangers get a serious makeover in new movie

CULT classic The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is getting yet another remake, this time for the big screen.

Lionsgate Movies has released the first teaser trailer for its 2017 release Power Rangers, starring Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Banks and a fresh young cast of rangers including Australian actor Dacre Montgomery.

The film follows a group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers and learn to harness their abilities for good.

The teaser trailer has been viewed more than 10 million times since it was uploaded over the weekend.

Fans expressed excitement on social media, although some lamented that the five rangers weren't shown in their trademark uniforms.

The film is due for release in March next year.
