P-plater nabbed

A 20-year-old Chinderah man lost his licence on day one of the NSW Australia Day road safety campaign, Operation Safe Return.

About 5.30am yesterday, police on the Pacific Highway at Cudgera Creek detected a Holden Commodore travelling north at 182km/h.

The P1 licence holder was breath-tested and allegedly returned a reading of 0.110.

The man was charged with mid-range PCA, drive at speed dangerous and P1 exceed speed by more than 45km/h.

He will appear in Tweed Heads Local Court on February 7.
