A GROUP of Gold Coast pranksters have filmed the moment one of their team  was almost taken by a shark during a "cage" diving stunt.

The YouTube video clip of the stunt is gaining worldwide attention as it shows one of the Mad Hueys daredevil fishing crew in the water when a 3m tiger shark suddenly appears to attack.

The man is seen fending off the shark with a bird cage.

The Mad Hueys member wrote on YouTube "Cage diving 1km of (sic) the Gold Coast most famous point break Snapper Rocks, a monster, 10 foot Tiger shark got way to (sic) close and almost took me leg off".

"Luckely (sic) my trusty bird cage saved me in the end. I thought I was goin (sic) to die."

The Mad Hueys describe themselves as being all about  "getting up in the morning and looking out the window and saying 'I'm the maddest Huey in this joint'."
