Precinct work starts

CONSTRUCTION of the new-look retail precinct at Salt Village is under way, after council gave the nod to the $1 million-plus revamp.

The $750,000 renovation of the Saltbar Beachbar and Bistro is set to be completed by next week. The expanded venue is designed to cater for corporate conferences and private events such as weddings.

The fit-out of two new eateries to be leased by Fins chef Steven Snow and his business partner Marco Cenfi will start soon and are hoped to be completed by the end of this year.

The award-winning team will open the Mediterranean-inspired Bellini restaurant and a gelataria, Piccolo, in the shopfront of the Gelataria Vernazza, whose owners Valentino and Carly Giannoni are relocating to Byron Shire to focus on wholesale manufacture and distribution of their gelato.

Only two of four office spaces are available to lease and, like the professional rooms that have already been leased, would be perfect for self-employed locals who want to bring their work closure to home, Ray Group's head of retail and commercial Jack Ray said.

“These tenancies are perfect for those wanting to live and work in the area, rather than commute to traditional office precincts like the Gold Coast or Brisbane,” Mr Ray said.

“Tenancies are available from $380 per week, and offer the convenience of working in the area with shops, restaurants and the beach at your doorstep.”
