Prepare a taste for healthy living

KINGSCLIFF chef Juan Erezuma will prove just how delicious life can be at the Tasting Life Seniors Week healthy living event at Kingscliff on Wednesday.

Mr Erezuma said his goal was to show healthy food was simple and easy to prepare and didn't need to break the budget.

“I'll be showcasing my warm chicken salad with citrus dressing,” Mr Erezuma said.

“I like keeping it simple and basic.

“Healthy food doesn't have to be expensive.”

Council aging and disability community worker Tanya Erezuma said the event would promote the benefits of physical activity and good nutrition to Tweed shire's senior citizens.

Beginning with a guided historical umbrella walk led by staff from North Coast Area Health Service, the event will feature talks by dieticians, a tai chi session and a demonstration from Ocean View Supported Living.

“Seniors from throughout the shire are urged to come along and participate in one or all events or browse the information tables available,” Mr Erezuma said.

“Fresh fruit platters and ice-cold bottled water will be available for a refreshing and healthy morning tea.”

Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre is also jumping onboard for Seniors Week with interactive workshops on digital camera and mobile phone use to help senior citizens with the technological side of life.

There will be four workshops held over two days from 10am-noon and 1pm-2pm on Wednesday and Thursday at the Pottsville Beach Neighbourhood Centre.
