Price of wine sparks restaurant brawl

POLICE are still investigating an altercation over a restaurant bill that left a patron in hospital on Sunday.

Gold Coast police received a complaint and were investigating the incident, but no arrest has been made as of this morning.

Police and paramedics were called to Mermaids Restaurant after an altercation between a waiter and a patron over the price of a bottle of wine on the bill.

Witnesses said the customer fell flat on his back and struck his head after he lunged at the waiter, who pushed the patron away.

Police were waiting to question the injured man who was in hospital in a critical condition on Monday.
