Mary Harbour project a step closer to going ahead
THE Mary Harbour development will soon be a step closer to becoming a reality.
A development application will be lodged with the Fraser Coast Regional Council in January by MSF Sugar, marking the next step in the bid to pave the way for the project's approval.
The $500 million proposal will include 1300 homes, businesses and a marina along the Mary River in Granville.
Fraser Coast Mayor Gerard O'Connell said it would be a modern, contemporary development, and would give the region a major boost.
MSF Sugar chief executive Mike Barry said the development application was 99% complete.
"A lot of effort has gone into the planning of it," Mr Barry said.
Mr Barry said MSF Sugar had worked closely with council to ensure the application would be successful.
"It's terrific news for Maryborough," Mr Barry said, adding that the development would be fully integrated with the region.
