QLD cop stood down while investigated for "excessive force"

THE Queensland Police Service has stood down a senior constable from the Brisbane region on Thursday from official duty.

The 41 year-old male officer is the subject of an investigation in relation to alleged use of excessive force.

Queensland Police said in a statement "in keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have an undertaking to inform the public when an officer faces disciplinary processes involving stand down or suspension".

However, it stressed this does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.
