Queen Mary 2 prepares for encore

AFTER the overwhelming success of Queen Mary 2's inaugural circumnavigation of Australia this year, Cunard has announced an encore performance, with its flagship liner back in February, 2014.

Queen Mary 2's second circumnavigation will call at eight different ports, with Australians able to sail on a full circumnavigation from Fremantle, Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, which will all enjoy two visits from the liner.

The ship will be in Australian waters for 33 days, visiting Fremantle (February 12, March 6), Melbourne (February 17, March 12), Sydney (February 19, March 14), Brisbane (February 21, March 16), the Whitsundays (February 23), Darwin (February 27) and Adelaide (March 10).

Cunard's Peter Shanks anticipated strong interest when pre-registrations open on August 7.

Pre-registrations will close on August 17 with the circumnavigation opening for sale on August 20.

"When we announced Queen Mary 2's first circumnavigation back in 2010, we had a record number of bookings made within the first day," Mr Shanks said.

"Cunard bookings from Australia surged again when she undertook the historic voyage earlier this year.

"Australians have an affinity with Cunard liners and they clearly love the wonderful blend of heritage and modernity that we offer. So we believe Queen Mary 2's second circumnavigation will be just as popular as the first."

Four different full circumnavigation options will be available for booking.

Circumnavigation packages start from $6499 per person, twin-share.

For more details and to pre-register, see travel agents, call 13 24 41 or visit cunard.com.
