Queens take on throne

BELINDA Dawney and the Tweed Valley Kings women face the biggest game of their young Gold Coast Soccer lives tonight, when they tackle minor premiers Nerang at Glennon Park.

The 'Queens', as they are more affectionately known, have exceeded all expectations in their debut season, dropping just six games (of 20) to finish second on the Premier League ladder.

Having toppled Nerang twice in the regular season with some dazzling displays, Dawney's girls enter the semi-final confident in their ability and if their big guns continue to fire, they may just book their maiden grand final berth.

The action kicks off at 7.30pm, with the winner to advance directly to the main event at Carrara Stadium on Saturday September 12 and the loser to face the winner of the second semi-final between Palm Beach and Broadbeach.
