Queensland to host Pan Pacifics

QUEENSLAND has secured the right to host another international sporting event only months after it secured the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

Major Events and Tourism Minister Jann Stuckey announced on Friday the Pan Pacific Swimming Championships would be held in south east Queensland in 2014.

Ms Stuckey said the event would generate $2 million for the state's economy.

More than 300 swimmers from all over the world will compete in the championships.

Last year, the Gold Coast won the right to host the Commonwealth Games in 2018.
