Queensland player ratings for Origin Game 1

Darius Boyd 8

Nice kick returning and ever-dangerous on sweeping plays. Looked effortless the way he returned the ball and a great fill-in for the injured Billy Slater at the back.

Corey Oates 6 ½

Found a wanting in support of a Greg Inglis bust, but a very solid Origin debut from this impressive youngster.

Greg Inglis 6

Kept quiet by opposite Josh Morris. Limited ball.

Justin O'Neill 6

Nice involvement in Queensland's first-half try. Bounced back from early head knock.

Dane Gagai 7 ½

Nice finish for Queensland's first try. Costly bobble from a Robbie Farah grubber cost his side a dropout. But then a crucial bat-down with Blues fullback Matt Moylan in space and Josh Mansour on the outside waiting for a try assist.

Johnathan Thurston 6 ½

Not his most brilliant Origin contest by his high standards, but did enough to manage the game for another Queensland win.

Cooper Cronk 7

Solid at leading team around the park again. Let Maloney run to the line for NSW try but he battled hard despite his well-publicised ankle injury.

Matt Scott 7

Not huge yards but put his hand up to run the tough metres when required.

Cameron Smith (capt) 7

Like Thurston and Cronk, managed the game well enough to allow his team to triumph for the Origin record-breaker for most appearances.

Nate Myles 5 ½

Is out of form as many analysts have suggested, only making 35 metres.

Matt Gillett 6 ½

Dangerous at times running off Thurston.

Sam Thaiday 7 ½

Punchy down left side and always ran hard.

Corey Parker 8

Work horse with plenty of early touches. Good ball distribution too. Outstanding in the tough opening exchanges.

INTER

Michael Morgan 5

Game ended prematurely after trying to tackle Blues runaway train, David Klemmer.

Josh McGuire 8

Never afraid to put his hand up to earn tough metres. Such a powerhouse in the middle.

Aidan Guerra 6

60 metres and 17 tackles. Not bad for 28 minutes of game time.

Josh Papalii 7 ½

Awkward to handle off bench in attack and defence. Such a danger with the ball.
