Queensland public transport fares won't rise this year

THE State Government has frozen public transport fares across the state for 2015.

Transport Minister Scott Emerson this morning that a 2.5 per cent annual fare increase scheduled for January would be scrapped.

Mr Emerson said Monday to Friday commuters between Brisbane and the Gold Coast would save approximately $440 per year.

But Robert Dow from Rail Back on Track told Brisbane Times the freeze was no substitute for full fare reform.
