Quinn family buys Darrell Lea
THE troubled Darrell Lea chocolate empire will be saved but restructured - with the loss of 400 jobs and closure of 27 company-owned stories - after being sold to Queensland's Quinn family, Brisbanetimes.com.au reports.
Company-owned stores will close on September 9 but Darrell Lea products will still be available through a network of licensed dealers and outlets.
The Quinn family, best known for its pet food, manufacturing and distribution services, said the deal would result in the loss of 246 permanent and 172 casual employees.
The sale price of the business was not disclosed.
