Radiology clinic boosts services

MURWILLUMBAH'S only privately-run radiology clinic has reopened, after closing suddenly in February.

One of the partners behind the new clinic, radiologist Tony Bennett, said Murwil- lumbah was an expanding town with a need not only for the previous services, but other speciality procedures not offered before.

Advanced Radiology Clinics Murwillumbah has taken over the old South Coast Radiology rooms in King St, announcing it has installed “new state-of-the-art equipment” for CT scans, ultrasounds, X-rays and mammograms as well as dental, bone mineral densitometry and other checks.

“Murwillumbah is a growing area.

"There's a lot of people and a lot of elderly people who need to be serviced,” Mr Bennett said.

“It's a massive benefit for the local community to have these services here,” he said, pointing out the range of services was more extensive than before, including all types of mammograms.

“We are also providing bulk-billing services for pensioners and health card holders,” he said.

“We have re-employed staff. Three of the four staff worked here previously.

We called a few of the doctors around the area and asked if they knew the staff.

They said ‘yes, those people are great'. It was all positive stuff.”

Mr Bennet said the new clinic made Advanced Radiology Services the largest provider of radiology services in the Tweed and Byron shires.
