Raiders not taking new boys lightly

THE Tweed Coast Raiders will be aiming to keep their momentum going in the Northern Rivers Regional Rugby League competition when they host Evans Head at Les Burger Field, Bogangar tomorrow afternoon.

After posting a narrow victory over the competition newcomers in their first encounter, Tweed Coast coach Nathan Jordan is wary of the side that has troubled more fancied opposition in the later rounds.

“They drew with Cudgen not so long back and have shown themselves to be very competitive throughout the season,” Jordan said.

“We just need to keep winning to stay in the hunt for a finals berth, and the players know just how important this game is in the overall season.

“With Cudgen, the Ghosts and the Rhinos all having tough games this weekend, we can really put a bit of a stamp on fifth, especially if we can put a few points on Evans Head.”

The Raiders will be without Matt Slattery, with James Sheenan coming into the side.

The Raiders will play Evans Head in three grades, with the under-18s kicking off at noon and the A- grade game from 2.45pm.
