Ready, set, play: New park on way

SCARLETT Boon is waiting with her mother Nikki for the opening of a playground at Kirra which will complete the final stage of a $300,000 foreshore upgrade.

Ms Boon said she was looking forward to taking her daughter to the park when it was finished.

"I just think the parks around here are amazing," Ms Boon said.

"Everyone respects them and looks after them."

Ms Boon said she was surprised how quickly the playground was going up.

"I walk from here (Kirra) to Rainbow Bay every day and I noticed the fence went up about a week ago," she said.

Gold Coast City Council division 14 councillor Chris Robbins said the playground was part of the final improvements planned for the foreshore at Kirra.

"We did all the widening a couple of years ago," Cr Robbins said.

"Every year we have done a little more work."

Cr Robbins said along with the playground this latest improvements included the installation of exercise equipment and barbecue areas.
