Record crowds turn out to Pottsville Anzac Day

A RECORD number of people packed around the Pottsville Cenotaph this morning for Anzac Day.

As many as 2000 stood silently through the Last Post with heads bowed to honour those who have served, still serve, or have fallen through war.

Pottsville RSL president John Dawes said the growth in attendance was heart warming.

DRS North Coast Region Manager, Lt Ashley Baldry said many have died in war so freedom could shine.

"We have a responsibility to keep freedom and liberty from being lost through indifference," he said.

Nationals MP Geoff Provest read the prayer for thanksgiving and Tweed mayor, Barry Longland read the prayer for the Queen.
