Red hot drumming as Greenback comp reels them in

IT was all action at the Greenback Tailor Charity Fishing Competition, with a winning 3.83kg tailor and a chorus of drums just some of the highlights.

Hosted by Cabarita Beach- Pottsville Lions Club, the weekend event was an unmitigated success, bringing hundreds out to throw in a line.

Notably, Tyler Ott weighed in with a whopping tailor to win the heaviest tailor competition, while Neville and Mary Collie were the lucky winners of a new boat and trailer.

Lions Club incoming president Kevin Francis said organisers Vicky Hansen and John Harden deserved a big thanks for their spot-on management of the event.

"We had 558 entries," he said.

"We were quite surprised at some of the fish that came through...the quality of them."

Mr Francis said the event successfully provided a fun day for Tweed fisherman and their families.

"We really wanted to make it a family event and on the Sunday we certainly achieved that," he said.

"The drummers seemed to go off a real treat."

Held at Cabarita Beach, the competition spanned Saturday and Sunday and lured an array of veteran and inexperienced fishers all keen to try their luck.

The day included a community market, The Samba Blisstas drumming spectacular, charity fish auction and a hefty haul of prizes.
