Reds to open in Canberra

THE Queensland Reds journey to try and win the 2013 Super Rugby title will began in Canberra on February 16.

The Queenslanders will tackle the ACT Brumbies before heading back to Brisbane to play arch rivals, the NSW Waratahs, at Suncorp Stadium a week later.

SANZAR unveiled the 20-round Super Rugby draw for 2013 yesterday and it again sees the Reds host eight regular season matches at home, including derbies against all four of their Australian Conference rivals - NSW Waratahs, ACT Brumbies, Western Force and Melbourne Rebels.

The season starts early to accommodate the nine-game schedule of the British and Irish Lions Tour to Australia in June.
