Reed murder case reopened

A COLD murder case has been re-opened on the Gold Coast for Linda Doris Reed.

Police are appealing for information from the public and hope an anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers earlier this year will call again.

Ms Reed, aged 21 when she died, went missing 26 years ago on December 13, 1983.

Her Mazda sedan was located three days later on Millaroo Drive, Gaven, and her body was found in a creek bed a short distance away.

Ms Reed was last seen alive at her workplace at Pacific Fair Shopping Centre, Broadbeach at 12.50pm on December 13.

Witnesses told police they saw a man in the vicinity of the Pacific Fair car park, described as about 18 years of age, 175cm tall, slim build with blonde hair in a “pageboy” style.

Detective Superintendent Brian Wilkins of the State Crime Operations Command Homicide Investigation Group said the public could help solve the case.

“Of particular interest is a call received to Crime Stoppers in February this year,” Det Supt Wilkins said.

Anyone with information which could assist police with their investigations should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
