Register for re-enactment of First World War recruitment

A MURWILLUMBAH re-enactment of a Coo-ee or First World War recruitment march, is being planned by the local RSL sub-branch.

The cut-off date to register for the event, which will coincide with the 100th anniversary of Anzac Day next year, is next month.

The march on April 25, 2015 will start at Murwill-umbah Showgrounds and end at the Cenotaph.

Descendants of war veterans are invited to dress in 1914-18 attire and adopt the number, rank and name of their loved one and carry a swag over their shoulder.

Participants will assemble at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds on Friday, April 24.

Billy tea and damper will be supplied as well as lunch and dinner.

That night, a free camp concert will be held featuring bush poets and songs from the 1914-18 era.

Reveille will begin at 4am on Saturday morning followed by a dawn service at the showgrounds.

The march will commence shortly after dawn service, followed by breakfast at the Murwillumbah Services Memorial Club.

At 12.30pm there will be lunch at the showgrounds at a moderate cost.

Registration

Descendants' registration forms are available by phoning or emailing the Coo-ee March co-ordinator, Kevin Cheetham.

Cut-off for registration is December 31.
