Relax this Easter with these fun options around Tweed
HERE'S five fun things to do around the Tweed this weekend:
1 Rock in to Byron's Bluesfest
BLUESFEST is Australia's multi-award winning and internationally renowned festival held every Easter at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm 15 mins north of Byron Bay. Bluesfest defines a new way of describing the wide group of music that was blues music, world music, roots music, a hybrid of those and other cultural styles under one umbrella - blues & roots music. Bluesfest prides itself on being an all ages family event so if you haven't got tickets, check out the website bluesfest. com.au to see what is available and also this year's great line up.
2 Showbiz artisans hit streets
BRINGING the carnival theme to this year's festival celebration is the Australian Street Entertainment Championships. Held over four days, clowns, mimes, jugglers and dancers will take to stages across Surfers Paradise in a carnival of light and laughter as they vie for the crowd's attention. Make sure you come down and check out each one! Check out the website for more details www.surfersparadise festival.com
3 Cafe hosts seaworthy exhibition
CHECK out a great art exhibition being held at Cafe d'bah at the moment. Potts "sea worthy" exhibition is a collection of mixed media acrylic, glycee and screen prints on presented on recycled timbers. His exhibition is open every day until April 25 in the gallery which adjoins the cafe 9am-4pm and with free entry. For further information please phone 07 5536 2500 or visit the website cafedbah.com.au.
4 Hunt an egg and grab a feed
ON Easter Sunday round up the kids and have an Easter egg hunt, a great way to keep them amused for an hour or so and then head to one of the many picnic areas around the Tweed area for a late breakfast. If a picnic is not your thing, many of the surf clubs do a great breakfast or lunch and, for the most part, at very reasonable prices. These surf clubs often boast the best views in town and do a great job in keeping our beaches safe with volunteer life savers. Check one out today.
5 Zone out in front of a big screen
THE cinemas have got some great movies this Easter weekend and if the kids are getting bored already take them along to Birch Carroll and Coyle Coolangatta, Hoyts Tweed City or the Regent Cinema Murwillumbah to catch the new Muppet movie, Muppets Most Wanted. While on a grand world tour, The Muppets find themselves wrapped into a European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike and his dastardly sidekick. For session times please visit the websites.
