Rep netball girls impress
ALL clubs and independent netball teams are reminded that a general meeting will be held this Wednesday at the clubhouse from 7pm.
Any apologies should be forwarded to our secretary, Sandra O'Brien at secretary@tweednetball.com.au.
Nominations are open for our club carnival, to be held on June 26.
Head to our website at www.tweednetball.com.au to complete the nomination form.
Our under-15 rep players showed off their skills in the curtain raiser to the Holden Cruze Golden South Region game played at Tallebudgera on Mother's Day and came away with a great win.
The girls were all nervous and excited to participate in this game and did not disappoint their coach.
Or all of their mothers who got along to Tallebudgera to cheer them along.
Coach Viki Pengilley was more than impressed with her young charges.
This additional game for our 15s rep team will certainly benefit it as it heads towards the Queensland State Carnival.
This will be held over the June long weekend.
Div 1: HP 47 Saints Stingers 21, Kingscliff Avatars 36 Saints Panthers 16, Banora Kestrels won on a forfeit from Southern Cross University.
Div 2: In a close game the Banora Vultures 24 edged out the Kingscliff Astrals 21.
It was a great, close game in all four quarters.
After the Vultures led 8-2 early in the first half the Astrals turned up the heat to hit the lead at half-time, 13-12.
Great defence from both teams made the game exciting, with some nervous times for coaches and spectators.
It was an excellent game all-round.
In another close game the Cudgen Strikers edged the Kingscliff Stars 23-22.
The Stars had a never-give-up attitude, keeping the Strikers within two points all game. Saints Barracudas beat Banora Eagles 38-30.
Div 3: Saints Sapphires ran out convincing winners against All Sorts 45-21, Seagulls Butterflies beat Banora Firechicks 53-22, Banora Wagtails drew 25-25 with Cudgen Cobras, and Kingscliff Twisters beat Banora Road Runners 36-17.
The first of our Junior Skills Development Squads started on Saturday with a great roll up of under-10s.
This program will run for the next five weeks, from 10am to 11.30am.
Our under-11s will take to the courts from tomorrow, from 5.45pm-7pm, and will continue for the next 12 weeks.
This is a great opportunity for our juniors.
It gives our selectors a chance to view the talent that we hope will represent Tweed from our under-12s.
This year our under-9s have started playing on our new hard courts and are producing some exciting netball.
