Reports of a shark sighting off Cabarita

There are reports that a beach was evacuated after a shark sighting off Cabarita today.

Shark Reports on Facebook stated a shark was seen in the water around 1.40pm.

A shark sighting was overheard on the Tweed Byron LAC Police scanner at around the same time.

Both reports indicated people were told to evacuate the beach.

Earlier this month a Cabarita surfer saw and photographed a great white shark 100m from the Cabarita beach shore.

It was Stu Aston's first great white sighting after 30 years of fishing and surfing the in the area.

More updates to come.
