TOOWOOMBA residents have been left shocked and angry that a serial rapist is living in an inner-city street.

A nearby neighbour of convicted rapist Jeffrey William Voois, 45, told The Chronicle she was living in fear in her North Toowoomba home.

Her story sparked outrage on social media with many asking that he be removed from their city or remain behind bars.

Katrina Collins wrote "every household should've been informed that this serial rapist was moving here and where exactly he'd be living", and Jake Rhys Lawson said, "It shouldn't have to get to the point residents have to be told. He should have been blocked from coming to Toowoomba in the first place".

The nearby resident, who asked to remain anonymous, said the reaction showed the general feeling of the community, that people needed to be informed of serious offenders in their neighbourhoods.

She told The Chronicle she became concerned with Voois's behaviour even before she found out about his criminal history and took her concerns to authorities.

One of Queensland's most notorious serial rapists whose victims include teenage girls has moved to Toowoomba and no one...

"The up-and-coming suburb of North Toowoomba needs to be a safe suburb," she said.

"We now need to move Voois on and send a clear message to him, his mates and other criminals with connections here they are not welcome.

"Toowoomba is the Garden City where we enjoy the gardens, not criminals."

The resident said she hoped the public reaction to her story would be enough for Voois to be moved out of Toowoomba for everyone's safety.
