Revvin’ to rock’n’roll
VINTAGE cars and rock'n'roll dancing aren't all that's on offer at Cooly Rocks On.
The annual nostalgia festival will have plenty lined up for another breed of rev-head, with a hoard of custom Harley Davidson bikes on show.
With the festival ready to kick off next Friday, preparations are well and truly revving up.
Miss Cooly Rocks On finalist Taylor Blom said she was excited to be involved with the nostalgia festival for the first time.
Ms Blom, who works at Hard Rock Cafe in Surfers Paradise, said customers kept asking her if she'd ever considered entering.
"I've never done anything like this before," she said.
Ms Blom said she was inspired by the style of the rock'n'roll era.
"I love the elegance and the fashion," she said.
Harley Davidson Gold Coast service advisor Steven Hughes said premium bikes like the one Ms Blom is pictured on would be on display during the festival.
Punters can also experience the power of a Harley with the H-D Jumpstart stationary bike, suitable even for motorbike newbies.
Famous stunt rider Matt Mingay will also make a special appearance in the Harley Davidson zone.
Cooly Rocks On will run for 11 days, showcasing pre-1970 cars, nightly cruises, music and dancing.
Last year, the festival attracted more than 100,000 to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads. This year, the 2km parade will be extended along Griffith St.
