Daniel Rich banking on round one start for Brisbane Lions

AFL: Brisbane Lions midfielder Daniel Rich says he is on track for round one against Collingwood next April and can't wait to get into pre-season.

The 24-year-old (pictured) ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee against Gold Coast in round three last season and hasn't played since.

He had a traditional reconstruction in April and started running in July.

He will start training later this month and said he was on track with his fitness.

"I'm pretty much ready to go with the boys," Rich told SEN. "The young boys started back on Wednesday but I've been pretty much training the whole way through the break, a little bit modified here and there, but I'm pretty much ready to go for day one of pre-season and feeling pretty good.

"I'm feeling pretty fresh, almost like it's my first year again having sat out the whole of last year, so I'm pretty excited."
