Ridge feels the rush of adrenaline

TWEED Head Seagull Ben Ridge’s senses were heightened before his debut with the Gold Coast Titans last night and the adrenaline rush might have given him some extra energy.

It is the 20-year-old’s first season with the Seagulls at second row. He played in the under-20s Titans team but started his junior football with Mitchell Magpies in Roma.

A very excited Ridge told the Tweed Daily News on the eve of the match he was feeling overwhelmed by the calibre of players he would be sharing the field with.

“Actually playing with and against star players is a dream come true for me,” he said.

“I found out on Tuesday afternoon off Carty (Titans coach John Cartwright) and I think I will be coming off the bench in the second row.

“It’s a great reward after having a few injuries ... unfortunately my parents aren’t able to come to the game but my girlfriend and sister will be in the crowd.”

Fellow Seagull and speedster Shannon Walker has also been selected to join the Titans at 18th man.
