Road spikes end police chase

TWEED Head Highway Patrol used road spikes to stop a police chase yesterday.

Highway Patrol officers sighted a Queensland-registered black Mazda travelling north on the Pacific Hwy at Chinderah following a complaint about the way it was being driven through roadworks.

Police engaged in a pursuit, with the vehicle remaining within the speed limit, but failing to stop.

Road spikes were used to stop the vehicle near Terranora Rd.

A 39-year-old male driver was arrested at the scene.
