Robinson named as fallen soldier

DEFENCE  have named the 23-year-old Australian soldier who died during a fire fight in Afghanistan as Kingscliff man Sapper Rowan Robinson.

Sapper Robinson, a combat engineer from the Holsworthy, Sydney-based Incident Response Regiment, was killed during a special forces operation to destroy a major insurgent munitions supply dump in Helmand province on Monday.

Sapper Robinson graduated from Kingscliff High School in 2005.

He is the 27th Australian soldier to die in the war.
