Rock solid funding for Kennedy Drive...someday
THE $3.3 million in funding to fix Kennedy Drive in Tweed Heads is rock solid according to Tweed Councillor and Tweed Chamber of Commerce vice president Warren Polglase.
But there is still no start date for the works on the major arterial road which has suffered traffic chaos for four years.
A spokesman for the new Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, said there was "still a fair way to go" in deciding the time-line for projects which would be funded by the Coalition's National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF) which has replaced the Regional Development Australia Fund (RDAF), set up after Labor's 2007 election.
But he reiterated the Coalition was committed to funding Kennedy Drive.
The NSRF will be funded by $200 million annually for five years.
