Rock 'n' roll festival plan

A NEW rock 'n' roll festival to replace Wintersun is on its way for 2011.

Key stakeholders on both sides of the State border have been invited to attend a public forum at the Coolangatta Hotel on Monday from 5.30pm to elect a sub-committee for the inaugural event.

Gold Coast City Councillor Chris Robbins, along with tourism and business leaders from Connecting Southern Gold Coast, Tweed Tourism, Tweed Chamber of Commerce, Tweed Shire Council and Tweed clubs will be in attendance.

Cr Robbins was confident the Gold Coast City Council would continue its support.

“There has also been an overwhelming response and offers of assistance to business leaders on both sides of the border from people who want to be involved with a new event that encompasses Coolangatta and the Tweed,” Cr Robbins said.

“The original charter of Wintersun has always been to work across the border so that the economic benefits flowed to both sides.”
