VIDEO: Police say brothers argued before fatal stabbing
UPDATE: A DISPUTE between two Roma brothers has left one dead and the other charged with his murder.
Troy Angus Kearns, 30, sobbed loudly when he appeared handcuffed in the Roma Magistrate Court yesterday morning where formal charges of murder were laid.
He is accused of fatally stabbing his brother Wade Michael Kearns.
He was remanded in custody to reappear in court for a committal mention on February 25, 2015, when more details of the alleged murder will be heard.
Brisbane scientific investigators are helping Roma police with investigations.
South-west Detective Inspector David Austin said four police officers and an ambulance were called to the Chrystal St home about 5pm Thursday with reports of a disturbance.
He said officers found a man, Wade Kearns, with stab wounds to his upper torso inside the home, as well as a bloodied knife.
Mr Kearns was taken to hospital and underwent emergency surgery, but was pronounced dead in the early hours of yesterday morning.
"Unfortunately, he didn't survive and was pronounced deceased last night," Det. Insp. Austin said yesterday.
His brother Troy Kearns had been arrested by responding police officers and originally charged with wounding offences which were then upgraded to murder.
Det. Insp. Austin said a long-bladed knife had been found at the home and investigations suggested the brothers had been arguing before the incident.
He described the incident as a "shocking tragedy", the impacts of which were being felt around the Roma community.
Residents of the western town had yesterday afternoon begun leaving floral tributes to the slain man outside the scene.
