Rowing club to host top champs

MURWILLUMBAH Rowing Club will host the NRRA Masters Championships on Sunday, May 3.

The Tweed River will be the canvas for senior rowers from across the region and further afield.

Murwillumbah has competitors in nearly every division with mixed teams, solo competitors and same- sex teams all set to battle it out with the best of New South Wales.

All races will be contested over the 1000m distance.

Competitors will be expecting good conditions with this time of year traditionally providing clean water surface conditions and lighter winds.

Local competitors to look out for are Ken Siddall in the first single scull race of the day and Sandra Williams in women's Single Sculls.

Tweed Heads has several competitors in the event, including Peter Faint lining up in the single scull races.

Kicking off at around 8am the event should make for great spectating along the banks of the Tweed.
