SAMANTHA Harris is fast becoming the new “it” girl of the Australian fashion scene.

The 19-year-old former Banora Point beauty has landed a sizzling new job as an ambassador for Australian swimwear brand Seafolly this summer.

The former Tweed River High School student was announced as the new face of the company this week.

“I’m so excited but I’m a bit shocked. I was just on the cover of Vogue and then this happened,” Miss Harris told the Tweed Daily News yesterday.

“I just had my fingers crossed that I would get it. I still can’t believe it.”

The campaign was shot on Brampton Island, off the Queensland coast.

“The shoot was really amazing. It was really nice and we had great weather for it.”

A spokeswoman for the swimwear brand yesterday said Miss Harris was born to be a Seafolly girl.

“Sam was selected for her amazing face, body and unique Australian look,” the spokeswoman said.

Miss Harris will be featured in the Seafolly advertising campaign modelling the company’s Summer 2010 range.

It will be promoted nationally and internationally.

“Sam looks fantastic in all the shots,” the spokeswoman said.

Miss Harris will feature in the campaign opposite fellow model Jessica Hart.

They follow in the footsteps of a long list of successful Australian models as the face of Seafolly, including Kristy Hinze, Alyssa Sutherland, Catherine O’Neil and Miranda Kerr.

In May, Miss Harris appeared in more than 20 shows during the Rosemount Australian Fashion Week in Sydney, where she modelled for well known brands including Alex Perry, Rachel Gilbert and Lisa Ho.

In the same week she was also unveiled as the cover girl of June’s Vogue Australia.

She only made her debut in the famous fashion magazine a couple of months prior, modelling the Italian brand Miu Miu.

Miss Harris said despite her national success, she will never forget where she came from.
