Savvy manager hits the Sandbar

MOST graduates expect to spend months looking for work but Griffith University's Kat McAskill has walked straight into a position as manager of a top Tweed Coast restaurant and bar.

Ms McAskill has just finished her degree in Marketing and Event Management but she has much more to offer the Sandbar + Grill than that piece of paper.

She also brings years of experience as she has spent the past seven years working for the well known Surfers Rowers and also in a five star resort.

Drawn to the Sandbar + Grill's ambience and local feel, Ms McAskill believes there is something that the Tweed can offer you that the Gold Coast cannot.

“The Tweed is such a beautiful spot. It is a lot slower paced,” said Ms McAskill

“It is the complete opposite to the rest of the Gold Coast.”

Ms McAskill has big dreams for her new job as she is already considering a fresh menu for summer as well as rejuvenating the wedding and events packages.

“We are looking at attracting some world-class bands and entertainment on a regular basis,” said Ms McAskill.
