Thieves hit skate store hours after it opens
A WARANA business has been the target of vandalism less than 24 hours after it opened.
Pro Scooter and Skate Warehouse owner Mark Meyer is counting the cost after thieves used their car to ram a wheelie bin through the back door of the Nicklin Way shop.
A screen door installed just last week was smashed and the wooden door ripped from its hinges.
Mr Meyers was putting the final touches to the Coast's biggest skate shop, which only opened on Monday morning after relocating from another Kawana premises.

He received the phone call about 1.30am from his security company.
"We had only just put the $400 security door on because we had a feeling if anything was going to happen, thieves would target the back door," Mr Meyers said.
"We've only been open a day and we've already been robbed. It's a kick in the guts.
"We've had boards and scooters stolen, but (exactly) how much, we don't know yet."
Mr Meyers spent yesterday repairing the damage, forking out hundreds of dollars for new doors to secure the business last night.
It was a major blow for the businessman who was looking forward to putting the final touches to his new store including signage.
CCTV is yet to be installed.
Mr Meyers was just one of several victims targeted by vandals in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Minutes earlier, vandals smashed their way into the Maroochydore Cricket Club at Syd Lingard Dr at Buderim.
And at 4am, thieves smashed the front entrance of Allez Sport at Mooloolaba.
The owners arrived at work to find Adidas eyewear had been stolen from a locked glass cabinet.
Clothing - predominantly women's Asics brand - had also been taken.
And over the weekend, the Neighbours and Community Aid op shop on Aerodrome Rd was targeted. Vandals used wooden pickets to break through the back door.
