Seagulls muscle in on fitness
FITNESS fanatics embraced the new $3 million Seagulls health and fitness complex yesterday when it officially opened its doors to the public.
The official launch of Revolution Health and Fitness featured performances by Cooly Rocks On nostalgia festival dancers and musicians, a display of classic and hotrod cars, as well as appearances by Gold Coast Titans players and fashion by Lorna Jane.
The facility boasts a cardio and weights gym with more than 50 machines, group fitness centre, massage therapy, crèche, females-only training area, lifestyle suites, bio-age testing facility, indoor sports complex and cafe.
Titan's player Luke O'Dwyer said the facilities were more impressive than he had imagined.
“This is really good, much bigger than I thought,” Mr O'Dwyer said.
Norths group, that operates Seagulls, recognised the Tweed region as an ideal area to invest.
“We conducted extensive market research up here, and realised that there was a great need for this kind of facility on the coast,” said Norths CEO Hans Sarlemyn.
“Our club is situated in the middle of a large and growing residential area with a broad demographic, from young people to families and retirees.
“These new facilities will cater for people of all ages, helping them to live healthier and happier lives.”
The complex will be open 6am to 9pm Monday to Thursday, 6am-8pm Friday and 8am-7pm on weekends.
