Seagulls topple Burleigh Bears in cracker match

IF the first round is anything to go by, then the Tweed Seagulls season is set to be a cracker.

The Seagulls managed to topple the Burleigh Bears in a tight match reminiscent of local derbies of old.

It was the halfback Beau Henry that stole the show with his try and five goals making all the difference in the 26 to 20 win.

The win was vital with the Seagulls heading into two tough matches against the premiers Wynnum next week before facing the form side of the competition Redcliffe the following week.

The game against the Bears was moved to Cabarita after the Seagulls home ground of Piggabeen was washed out.

Tweed Heads Seagulls 26 (Tries: James Wood, Beau Henry (5 goals), Cory Blair, Luke O'Dwyer defeated Burleigh Bears 20 (Tries: Steve Michaels, Jordan Rankin (2 goals), Sam Meskell, Shane Gray.
