TWEED Seagulls RLFC walked away winners after a tough game against Innisfail's Northern Pride at Billy Slater Oval on Saturday.

The pride were unbeaten before the Seagulls arrived in town, but that didn't last long with the gulls finishing the match 24-14.

Tweed capitalised most of the match, playing a great defensive game against Innisfail, with Luke o'Dwyer stepping in before kick off to replace Mark Minichiello.

Seagulls' forward Jake Leary said the team was ecstatic to take down the boys from up north.

"It was unreal mate," he said.

"We had two really ordinary losses, but we knew were we stuffed up in ball handling."

"It was great to win this one."

Club CEO Terry Keen was proud of the strong Seagulls' squad and hoped they continue to climb the QRL InTrust Cup ladder.

"It was a very tough defensive game and we bombed a couple of tries," he said.

"But we managed to win this one.

"They were undefeated at the time."

Keen said the team was in good spirits and ready for the next match, in what has been a tough QRL season for the Tweed Seagulls so far.

Shaun Carney, Chris Binge, Beau Henry and Marmin Barba of Tweed all managed to cross the line, much to the dismay of Innisfail.

Seagulls are sitting equal third on the QRL ladder with five other teams on four points.
