Seahawk to live the dream at All-Stars match
A TUGUN Seahawk junior will be living a dream on Saturday when he runs out in a curtain-raiser to the 2016 Harvey Norman Rugby League All Stars match at Suncorp Stadium.
Brock Styles, 15, from Tallebudgera was selected for the NSW under-16s Indigenous squad to play against their Queensland counterpart, after the young lock impressed at a selection camp in Narrabeen last November.
Styles is currently in camp with the NSW squad and rubbing shoulders with NRL and Indigenous stars including James Roberts and Josh Morris at training.
Mother Deb Everitt said the majority of the squad - who were mainly from the Sydney and Port Macquarie areas - already had ties to the NRL which is something her son wanted to achieve.
“Brock would be bursting inside as those boys in that side are contracted with an NRL club so it could mean so much for Brock,” Ms Everett said.
“To run out onto Suncorp Stadium is one step closer to his dreams and he knows how important it is that he plays well.”
Ms Everett said the whole family would be heading up for the game and will be cheering loudly when Styles runs out.
Styles is part of the famed sporting excellence program at Palm-Beach Currumbin High School that has churned out NRL stars such as Ben Ikin, Darius Boyd, Ben Hannant and Kevin Proctor.
The match kicks off at 4pm (Qld) and will be televised live on NITV before the seventh annual All-Stars match kicks-off.
