UPDATE: A Coast teen who was the subject of a missing person search has been found safe and well.

Sunshine Coast police central patrol officer Inspector Mike Miley said the 16-year-old was located in Caloundra on Saturday night.

EARLIER: Concern is growing for the welfare of a Coast teenager who has not been seen since Thursday.

Sunshine Coast police central patrol officer Inspector Mike Miley said Tamika Hamilton-Qumi, 16, had been staying with a family friend in Palmwoods before she went missing.

Inspector Miley said Tamika was last seen at KFC in Caloundra about 11am Thursday in the company of her boyfriend Yarran Minehan.

"We are trying to look for him as well," Insp Miley said.

He said Tamika usually got in contact with her family but they had not heard from her, which was driving their concern.

"This is generally not her behaviour."

Insp Miley said the search for Tamika had been extensive.

He said police were seeking assistance from the public to help them confirm whether or not she was safe.
