Police scale down search
POLICE have renewed their appeal for assistance from the public in the search for missing woman Carol Anderson.
Ms Anderson, 70, went missing from the Palms Caravan Park where she lives last Friday and hasn't been seen since.
A two day exhaustive land and river search was conducted earlier this week with assistance from the Tweed Byron Local Area Command police, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, RACQ Careflight helicopter and Volunteer Rescue Association.
Police had no choice but to scale down the search on Thursday.
Tweed police Inspector Darren Steel, who has headed the investigation, said police were still searching for the woman and were hoping for new information from the public.
"We are still searching and anyone who may remember seeing Ms Anderson on Friday or since then should contact us immediately."
Ms Anderson was captured on CCTV leaving the park around 1.40pm on Friday wearing a white dress with shoe-string straps.
She has been described as Caucasian, 160cm tall, with a medium build and brown/grey collar-length hair.
If you have any information on Ms Anderson's whereabouts call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Police scale down search
POLICE have been forced to scale down the search for missing woman Carol Anderson after a three-day exhaustive land and river search in Tweed Heads South.
The 70-year-old Palms Caravan Park resident was captured on CCTV footage leaving the Dry Dock Rd park around 1.40pm last Friday and was seen walking along Fraser Dr shortly after. She hasn't been seen since.
Police are fearful for her wellbeing as she suffers Alzheimer's disease and has been missing for six days.
A NSW Police Force spokeswoman said Tweed Byron Local Area Command police, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, RACQ Careflight helicopter and Volunteer Rescue Association had spent both Tuesday and Wednesday conducting a full search of the caravan park and surrounding area. She said the SES had wrapped up a final search of the river foreshore yesterday.
"There has been a letter drop of the shops and clubs and police will continue regular patrols," she said.
Ms Anderson has been described as Caucasian, 160cm tall with a medium build, brown/grey collar length hair and was last seen wearing a long white dress with shoe string straps.
If you know of Ms Anderson's whereabouts or have seen her contact Crime Stoppers immediately on 1800 333 000.
